We employ 175 members of staff, including 98 nursing and medical staff, and support around 700 families.

Shooting Star Childrens Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or who have been bereaved. Rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, we support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

Part 1: Job Profile

a)Main purpose of job

To support Shooting Star Childrens Hospices in turning data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.

Duties and key responsibilities

  • Interpret data, analyse results using statistical techniques and provide reports to the organisation
  • Assist in the development and Implementation of data analysis using data collection systems and other strategies to optimise the data as efficiently as possible
  • Acquiring data from primary and secondary sources and maintain the necessary databases
  • Monitor the Organisational performance by producing KPIs and reporting at least quarterly Produce benchmarking with other children hospices by building external relationships and using external sources of information Produce any regulatory reports in collaboration with the business
  • Produce board packs for senior leadership and trustees in collaboration with the business
Essential and desirable skills and experience
  • Proven experience as a data analyst Knowledge and experience with reporting packages (Business objects, tableau, power BI), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience in using statistical packages for analysing datasets (Excel, SPSS,SAS etc)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse and disseminate information with high attention to detail
  • Adept with queries, report writing and presenting findings

Part 2: Main duties and key responsibilities

a)Use headings from the scope Producing monthly/quarterly KPIs for all departments Monitoring and ensuring controls in place for data capture Producing dashboards for individual departments Producing reports which use external sources to highlight trends and display how we are performing compared to other hospices Produce reports to support bids and tenders for trusts and funders Produce any reports for external companies which are required for compliance purposes Produce quarterly board reports in partnership with the relevant departments Maintaining any databases or warehouses used to store data from several different sources ensuring it is up to date and accurate

b)Other duties

These duties will be applicable to some posts. (Please delete/amend those which are not relevant for this role.)

  • The post holder must be able and willing to get to and work in both hospices. The post holder will need to travel extensively throughout their area and less frequently in other parts of Surrey/West London
  • The post holder should be prepared to attend SSCH meetings in different parts of the country. Some meetings may be during evenings or weekends.
  • The post holder will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service check
  • The post holder must live within the area of work/within xx distance of a key venue
c)Mandatory Criteria

The post holder will be working in a developing environment and they will therefore be expected to undertake other appropriate duties as required for the effective operation of Shooting Star Childrens Hospices.
